Ms. Ouko is a Committee Member of Compassion International Kenya and also the Youth Patron at ACK St. Paul’s Yala Parish.

Ms.Leah Marias

Holds a Master of Education (Educational Administration) from University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Education and Counseling (Special Needs Education) from Kenya Methodist University and a Diploma Teachers Certificate (Special Needs Education).

Ms.Marias has been on the frontline in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Kajiado County.

Ms. Winfred Mulu Kamene

Holds a Master of Business Administration, (Finance) from University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education, (Economics &Accounting) from University of Nairobi.

Ms.Kamene is a CPA (K) and member of ICPAK. A Certified Fraud Examiner and certified member of CFE (K).

She is an established banking, operations and finance professional breaking power structures to become a shining example to young women and girls.

Ms. Jane Okwiri Dawo

Holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Maseno University and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Kenyatta University.

Ms. Dawo is the Founding secretary to Women Professionals in Development (WOPID), has undertaken various research and written publications on girl-child participation in education.

Ms. Ellen Mwaka Mutemi

Holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (Human Resource Management) from Kenya Methodist University and has undertaken numerous courses in Leadership.

Ellen is a growth oriented banking professional with a unique track record of over 25 years of experience, of which 15 years has been at various leadership positions.

Ms. Sonia Odek

Holds a Bachelor of Economics and Statistics from Nairobi University and CPA Part 1 from Strathmore University.

An active member of YWCA, Ms.Odek has also undergone training in Programming for Adolescent Girls in Lusaka Zambia and Alcohol and Drug Abuse by NACADA.

Ms. Hopemary Mwende

Holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree- Finance.

A long-term volunteer member for YWCA Kenya, a former participant and beneficiary of YWCA exchange program in Norway, Ms. Mwende has training in Peer Education and HIV /AIDS awareness and prevention.

Kisii Branch representative

Ms. Rosemary Osano

Holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Kisii University, Diploma in Project Management from Kenya Institute of Management, Diploma in Community Development and Social Work from Elgon View College and a Certificate in HIV Management and Support from St. Anne’s College.

Ms. Osano has also taken other training in SRHR, FGM, GBV, Leadership and Advocacy Training.

Ms. Heremine Mbatu

Holds an Advanced Diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.

Ms.Heremine is particularly active at the grassroots working with the County Government of TanaRiver to articulate issues relating to Gender Based Violence and socio-economic empowernment of Women at the County.

Ms. Deborah Olwal-Modi

National General Secretary

Ms. Deborah Olwal-Modi

Is the National General Secretary of YWCA Kenya and serves as the Secretary to the YWCA National Board. Ms. Olwal holds a Master of Science in Development Management, Masters in Public Health and a Bachelor of Education (Arts). With over 20 years’ experience working with NGOs, she has previously served in several Boards and Steering Committees with numerous successful projects in her portfolio.

Deborah has extensive experience in leadership, strategy execution and sound people management skills. Her current focus is to lead YWCA Kenya in achieving the strategic plan 2019-2023 which is dubbed the “turnaround strategy”, aimed at doing things differently to achieve better results in a rapidly changing environment.

Ms. Roselyne Nelima Pepela

Deputy National General Secretary

Ms. Roselyne Nelima Pepela

Is currently the Head of Programs and the Deputy National General Secretary of YWCA Kenya. She holds a Masters in Community Development and project management from Egerton University and a degree in Linguistics and Media Studies from Moi University. With over 15 years of experience, Roselyne is currently responsible for providing policy, strategic direction and coordinating all programs at YWCA Kenya.

Prior to joining YWCA, she was the country director for a youth empowerment program supported by the USA Embassy. She has also previously worked as the Capacity Building Specialist in the Program for Agriculture and Livelihoods in Kenya and Innovations for Poverty Action.
